William “Bill” Lenon Walters, 85, of Folkston, GA passed away at his residence March 9, 2018. He was born December 7, 1932 in Baker County, FL. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He retired from the Jacksonville Fire Department after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighters Association. He served Charlton County as a volunteer EMT and a member of the School Board from 1975-1978. He worked with the Florida Children’s Burn Society each year after his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Betty Jean Minchew Walters; 3-Children: Terry L. (Susan) Walters, Sr., Douglas Keith (Debra Lori) Walters and Patti Susanne (Mark) Gantt; 9-Grandchildren and 5-Great Grandchildren and half-brothers and half-sisters.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 12 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery.
