William Leroy Rewis (W.L.), 91, of Folkston, GA. passed away December 7 in Folkston with his loving wife by his side. He was born March 1, 1927 in Cobb County Georgia. W.L. was a member of the Church of God and Harvest Christian Fellowship Church. He was employed by Charlton County Road Department for 32 years. He served his community in the Charlton County Fire Department. He was a city councilman for the City of Homeland for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilson Hanberry and Sarah Rewis.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dessie Maxine Rewis; children: Blake (Linda A.) Rewis, Mike (Delores) Rewis, Ken (Debbie) Rewis, Brenda (Tracy V.) Johnson, Linda (J.R.) Davis; Sisters: Dorothy Donovan, and Lois Buck; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 9 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, December 10 at 1:00 PM at Shepard Roberson Funeral Home Chapel of Folkston, Georgia with Rev. Bobby Tatum officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery in Folkston, Georgia. Pallbeares will be Brian S. Johnson, Matthew V. Johnson, Donavon Rewis, Steve Davis, Randy Davis, and Steve Rewis.
