William Purvis

William Guy Purvis, 84 of Callahan, Florida passed away January 6, 2014 in St. Vincent’s Hospice.  He was born January 3, 1930 in Mendes, Georgia to Willie Joe and Merle Purvis.  He served his country in the United States Army and was an Independent Baptist Pastor and was a member of Buford Grove Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years:  Ann Floreed Clark Purvis.
Survivors include His children: Guy Purvis, Sherral Pike, Jefferson Lynn Purvis, John David Purvis, Tammy Vanzant (Mark), Mark Purvis (Terri), Clark Purvis (Lisa); two sisters: Corliss Stanley (Emmitt) and Miriam Hogan; fourteen Grandchildren; twenty-three Great-grandchildren; several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers: Bo Moody, Ty Purvis, Casey Hendry, Robert Pike, Jr., Paul Stanley, and Robert Wayne Guy.  Honorary Pallbearers: Bub Moody, Lewis Scheider, Steve McQueen, Bob Phillips, Emmitt Stanley, Billy Clark, Ralph Allen and Wayne Guy.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 6 until 8 PM at Shepard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 9, 2014at 11:00 AM at Buford Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Wilds officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery.
