Wilford Mitchell

Wilford Mitchell, 86 of Folkston passed away June 13, 2011 at his residence.
He was born September 27, 1924 in Edison, Georgia to Norris and Lillie Bell Littles Mitchell. He attended Calhoun County Public schools. He worked as a farmer until moving to Folkston over 60 years ago. Mr. Mitchell was employed with the railroad, McCoy Jackson Hospital and Gilman Kraft Bag Division before retirement. He was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Willie(Chandra) Vandell(Vertie),Yvonne, Beverly(Alan), Darren, Wilford, Jr., Lashawn(Michael, Sr.) William, Joanne, Tyreese, Tyrone, Natasha. Step-children: Marilyn, Julius, Laura, Janie, Vanessa, and Henry; Sisters: Katie, Mamie, Elizabeth, Eula; two sisters-in-law: Addie Sweets; Georgia Pearson(Bishop LD) many Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, nieces, Nephews, friends and other relatives and a devoted nephew: Lawrence Everette.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: William, Thomas, George, Woodraw, Norris,Jr., Ruth and Mary and his wife: Mary Ann Jones Mitchell.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Mt. New Home Baptist Church from 12:00 until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM with Rev. Robert Alderman, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Neely Cemetery.
