Surrounded by his loving family at home, Walter Edward Clifford, 49, of Folkston, Georgia transitioned into his new life and was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord on December 18, 2010. Diagnosed in 1986 and after a long and courageous journey with a brain tumor and subsequent treatments, Wally entered into heaven and was made whole again.
Born on October 6, 1961, Wally was the son of Wilma L. Clifford, Augusta, GA and the late Dr. Richard Ramsey Clifford.
Wally is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy; his loving children, Brandon and Aubrey Clifford, all of Folkston, his much loved sisters: Debbie Clifford (Jon) Denning, Denise Baker, and his caring brother: Richard R. (Bebe) Clifford, Jr. of Augusta, GA. Wally was blessed with a beloved mother-in-law: Joan (John) Dixon of Kingsland, GA and a dedicated father-in-law: Glenn M. (Glenda) Taylor of Folkston and several nieces and nephews.
Wally graduated in 1986 with a degree in political science from Augusta State University, with plans to attend Law School. Wally lived his life full of Faith, Hope, Love for his family and chose to live life to the fullest every day even though he faced many trials with his illness.
Wally was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, golfer, and loved to fish. His passion was playing the piano and listening to rock and roll music. His beloved pets, Maggie and Dixie, filled his day with joy, laughter, and sometimes mischievous behavior. He was a devout Christian and loved the Lord with all his heart.
His family would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Maged Abdelmalik and Heartland Hospice for their continued care and support as well as his aunts for always providing special treats through the years.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Camp Pinckney Baptist Church in Folkston, Georgia at 6:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 5-6 PM before the service.
