VIRGINIA WADE

December 13, 1918 — January 6, 2012

Virginia Van Pelt Wade, 93, of Folkston, Georgia passed away Friday, January 6 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was born n Pennsylvania to the late Howard Van Pelt and Bessie Van Name Van Pelt. Virginia took delight in her family and friends. She carefully tended her garden and lawn which is highlighted by a large bonsai-shaped live oak tree. Mrs. Wade served as Librarian at the Folkston Library and she was also secretary at the Folkston United Methodist Church. In her younger years, she was a legal secretary to Mr. Fant in Jacksonville, Florida who did the legal work for laying out the town of Ponte Vedra. She was preceded in death by her former husband of many years, John Malcolm “Mac” Wade.
Remaining to celebrate her life and her soul’s passage into the nearer presence of her Savior are her children: Mary Wade (Brett) Patterson, Bonnie Wade (Joe) Conner, Malcolm (Brenda) Wade, Dorothy Wade (George) Vuturo and Carolyn Wade. She was the proud grandmother of Melanie (Rick), Chip (Urnaa), Mary (Chad) Ashley, Wade and Christin. She took great delight in her great grandchildren: John, Caitlyn, Hannah, and Chadlyn, each of whom she loved dearly.
She had very special friends as well: Alice, Bob, Carole, Charlotte, Don, Evelyn, Frances, Jeannette, Jennifer, Linda, Loretta, Lyle and BJ, Mary Eve, Ruby, Dr. Sarah, Walter and Florence. Each of these as well as dear friends preceding Virginia, greatly enriched her life as did the Folkston United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Folkston Families, the Folkston Garden club and her bridge club friends and Chief Green and the staff of the Folkston Police Department. A special thank you for the excellent care, kindness and love shown by the Charlton Memorial Hospital Staff and Volunteers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday January 14 at 11:00 AM at Mrs. Wade’s home at 56 Fairfax Avenue, Folkston, Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you visit a handicapped or home-bound person in Mrs. Wade’s memory.
