Virginia Estelle Gee Hopkins Smith

Virginia Estelle Gee Hopkins Smith, 71, of Hilliard, FL passed away at her home April 25, 2023 following a lengthy illness.  She was born June 2, 1951 in Newnan, GA to the late King Murphy Gee and Bernice Gibson Gee.  She graduated from North Hall High School in 1970 where she was on the honor roll and a member of the Future Business Leaders of America.  She was named the 1970 Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year for Hall County.  She was employed with the USPS for 17 years where she received many certificates and awards.  She was also partial owner in Smith’s Used Cars and owned Virginia’s Trash and Treasures.  While working 2 jobs at Dominos and The Pantry, she graduated in 2008 at the age of 57 with a degree in Phlebotomy.  She was a loving mother, nanny and substitute nanny.  She enjoyed meeting new people and usually remembered your name and enjoyed visiting when she ran into her friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband:  Charles R. Hopkins; 2-sons:  Bryan M. Hopkins and Brandon K. Smith and a granddaughter:  Erica N. Smith.

She is survived by her husband:  Wallace Smith; daughter and son in law:  Beverly and Scott Hand, Sr.; a daughter in law:  Deanna Smith; grandchildren:  Kory (Autumn) Bryant, Emmalee (Bryan) Brown, Elena Smith, Kylee (Dalton) Thompson, Scott Hand, Jr., Nickolas Smith, Constance (Matthew) Bennett and Jordan Hand; great grandchildren:  Waylon Bryant, Nelson Bryant, Maddex Thompson, Matt Bennett, Jr. and Brooklynn Bennett; sisters:  Linda Green and Sue (Billy) Minshew.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 29 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 1-2 PM.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Lucas officiating.  Memorialization will be by cremation.
