Verona Bacon Romero, 81, of Hilliard, FL passed away April 1, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born February 11, 1934 in Eustis, FL to the late Oscar David Bacon and Fronita Hodges Bacon. She loved baking and decorating cakes for her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She loved her family and if she ever “Adopted” you, she loved you forever. She was a member of Kahal Schachah Congregation.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Dianne Bacon Lamb.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years: Waldo Romero, Sr.; 3-Children: David Romero, Wally Romero & Dianne (Keith) Morris; 4-Grandchildren: Christina Downes, Gregg Romero, Jessica Vanzant & Kyle Morris; 3-Great Grandchildren: Gage Fossick, Brailen Fossick & Delaney Downes; and a sister: Delores Brocato, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Acosta-Rua Center for Caring, 5450 Ramona Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 7 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8 in the Chapel of Shepard Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with Elder Chett Jacobs and Elder Vick Drawdy officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
