Verna M. Eller Dykes, 59, of St. George, GA, passed away May 24, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Roaring Springs, PA to the late Ethel C. and William H. Eller. She attended North Bedford High School and went on to receive her paraprofessional license and was a kindergarten assistant while her children were attending school. She later became a Certified Pharmacy Technician in Georgia which was very rewarding to her. She traveled extensively, accompanying her husband who was in the Army, whom she married in the Canal Zone, Panama, Central America. Her life was filled with many interests, including photography, reading, fishing, gardening, taxidermy, spending time with her grandchildren and enjoying time with her true southern friends and relatives who live near the Okefenokee Swamp in South Georgia.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years: Donald Dykes; a daughter: Pia Dykes and her children: Jalees and Javonna; a daughter: Xenia Dykes and her daughter: Abigail; sisters: Kathy Abbott and Linda Lashinsky and a brother: Levi C. Eller; In-Laws: Nina and Russell Dillon; and Brothers-in-law: Leo, Wayne, Dwight and Kevin Dykes; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A Graveside services will be held Tuesday May 29 at 11:00 AM at Boones Creek Cemetery in St. George, GA with Rev. James Conner officiating.
