Velma Travillian Smith, 94, of Callahan, passed away February 27 in Jacksonville Florida following a lengthy illness. She was born in East Burnsted, Kentucky to the late John Travillian and Elvira Sue McWhorter Travillian. She worked at May Cowens in the early 1960’s and was previous owner of Tradewinds Restaurant in Hilliard and the Rainbow in Callahan. She was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 71 ½ years: Lawrence E. Smith and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 1 at Live Oak Baptist Church from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2 at 11:00 at Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Wolgamott officiating. Burial will be held Monday March 5 at 2:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
