Velma Lloyd

Velma Jean O’Berry Lloyd, 84, of Folkston, GA, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019.  She was born August 16, 1935 in Millwood, GA to the late Jim O’Berry and Pauline Bennett O’Berry.  She was a member of the Homeland Church of God of Prophecy.  Mrs. Lloyd was a devout Christian and loved reading her bible and other study material that she kept in what friends and family affectionately called her “Jesus Room”.  She was a loving and devoted Navy wife to her husband, George, sacrificing unselfishly for her children while he was deployed.

Along with her parents, she was preceded by her husband, George Lloyd, 2-sisters:  Ruby Brannan and Jimmie Mae Lloyd and 2-brothers:  Jake O’Berry and Freddie O’Berry.

She is survived by her children:  George Timothy (Christine) Lloyd, Jack Rufus (Joy) Lloyd and James Thomas Lloyd; 2-brothers:  Charlie (Wilma) O’Berry and Lloyd (Dorothy) O’Berry; 5-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 2, at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 3 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery.
