Tommy Gene Crews, 73, of St. George, GA passed away November 11, 2017 with his devoted wife and children by his side. He was born in St. George, GA on March 3, 1944 to the late Dave Anderson Crews and Emmie Crews. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as a Highway Maintenance Forman after 26 years of service. He attended the Macedonia Independent Methodist Church. Mr. Crews loved the outdoors. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening and farming. He had a passion for painting and woodworking. He loved to tease and aggravate his sisters. But most importantly, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He went out of his way to make sure they were all safe.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 3-Brothers: John Wesley Crews, Bill Crews and Alfred Crews; 5-Sisters: Mary Ellen Pellum, Eula Mae Conner, Bernice Sikes, Jeanette Combs and Shirley Hicks.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years: DeLois Crews; 6-Children: Susie (Buddy) Hodges, Cheryl (Kyle) Hicks, Dale (Rachelle) Crews, Tammy (Richard) Fitchett, Michael (Leslie) Privett and Dena (Jimmy) Zinker; 1-Brother: David (Cindy) Crews; 1-Sister: Louise Dority; 21-Grandchildren and 29-Great Grandchildren; a special great niece: Danielle Crews and special sisters-in-law: Margaret Watson and Jeanette “Jenny” Best.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 13 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Crews and Rev. James Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Boones Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Powell, Thomas Powell, Bill Cheatham, Brad Boatright, Eric Robinson, Trace Reynolds, Doug Hodges, Chris Hendrix and Nick Crosby.
