Theodore T. Canaday, 89 of Folkston passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at his residence. He was born February 24, 1919 to Jule and Vallie Thrift Canaday in Moniac and has been a lifelong resident of Charlton County. He retired from Florida Junior College and from the Charlton County Board of Education in maintenance. Mr. Canaday was known by many as Daddy. He fostered over 200 children and helped raise several of his nieces and nephews and many other community children. He was a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife: Louise Canaday of Folkston; one son: Freddie Canaday of Jacksonville Beach, Fl.; 6 Daughters: Kathleen Tyson of Glen St. Mary, Fl.; Becky Waldruph of Jacksonville Beach, Fl.; Sandra Capps of Homeland, Ga.; Debra Cook(Cookie) of Blackshear, Ga.; Reba Still of Fort Hood, TX.; 12 Grandchildren; Many, Many great-grandchildren ; Special Nieces: Valarie Suzy Thrift of Jacksonville, Fl., and Joyce Higginbotham of Folkston, Ga.; Several Nieces, Nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, June 6, 2008 at their residence beginning at 5:00PM. Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Shepard Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Lee, Rev. E.C.Crews and Rev. Fred Woolard officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Pinckney Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Shepard Funeral Home of Folkston, Georgia.
