Samuel Edward Chancey, 90 of St. Marys passed away September 27, 2015 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems Camden. Mr. Chancey was born in Woodbine, Georgia on March 28, 1925 to Manning Alvin and Mary Agnes Colson Chancey. He served his Country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Chancey worked as a local shrimper and farmer and went by the handle “Captain Ed”. He was a founding member of Coastal Baptist Church in St. Marys and an active member for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Lucille Chancey and a sister Grace Scott. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Coastal Baptist Church in St. Marys, with Pastor Donald Link officiating. Committal services will follow at 3:00 PM in Sardis Cemetery, Folkston, Georgia.
