Ruby Peterson

March 7, 1928 — October 17, 2010

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10

On Sunday, October 17, 2010, a holy angel came down from heaven to answer Mother’s appointment with God.

Born March 7, 1928, Ruby Dell Peterson was the oldest daughter of the late Rufus and Ruby Milton Edwards of Folkston, Ga. She attended the Folkston public school system where she was always an active and apt student. On May 2, 1948 she was joined in holy matrimony with George Thomas Peterson, Jr. They remained married for 39 years until his passing in 1987.

Her salvation came at Jerusalem Holiness Church. In 1942, she received the impartation of the Holy Ghost at the tender age of 14 under the leadership of Bishop Nick Hightower Sr. While at the Jerusalem, Mother Peterson served as a Sunday school teacher and secretary.

Mother Peterson began preaching the word of god in 1950. She preached her trial sermon on the first Sunday in December of that year. Her first pastorate was at Mount Calvary Holiness Church in Callahan, Fl where she accepted the call on February 3, 1959.

Mother Peterson’s dedication to God’s call on her life has always been evident through her preaching, as she has always given her best in every situation. Among her accomplishments in the gospel, she became the first female minister and pastor in Charlton County. She had a vision from the Lord to create an organization and on July 31, 1986, the Corinth Holiness Church Incorporation was established in Silco, Ga. From this organization several other churches were established

Mother loved everyone she who she came into contact with and never hesitated to let them know. She never turned anyone away or anyone down, no matter whom they were, they were always greeted with that beautiful smile that assured you that she was a loving, kind and generous person. However, there was a special love that she had for children. Proof of her love for people and children was evident after she and her husband gave birth to 18 children and successfully reared many more.

She was proceeded in death by one daughter Anne Bell Wong, three sisters; Deloris Roberson, Pluma Everett, Lois Smith, and one brother Rufus Edwards Jr.
