Roy Creel, Jr

Roy Franklin Creel, Jr., 80 of Hilliard passed away November 19, 2011 at River wood Center Nursing home in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born October 29, 1931 to Roy Franklin and Grace Beatrice Youngblood Creel in Gainesville, Georgia. Mr. Creel was employed with the Alabama Highway Patrol and served his country in the United States Navy and also the United States Air Force. He worked with FAA (Air Traffic Controller) for 25 years before retiring.
Roy received an Associate in Arts Degree from Florida Jr. College of Jacksonville, North Campus in 1975. He received the following awards during his working career: National Air Traffic Facility Award in 1984; FAA Outstanding Performance Award 1985-1986 for 25 years of continuous service without a systems error.
Survivors include: his wife of 54 years: Renate Creel of Hilliard, Florida; One son: Michael Creel (Laura) of Hilliard, Florida; one sister: Pat Hinson of Palm Bay, Florida; two Grandsons: Gordon Creel of Jacksonville, Florida; Frankie Creel of Little Rock, Arkansas; one granddaughter: Michelle Creel Patterson of Little Rock, Arkansas; one nephew: Donnie Creel of Eufaula, Alabama; Nieces: Lynn, Cindy, Natalie, Linda, Patsy-Dean of South Florida;
A Committal Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Homeland Cemetery, with Rev. Kris Elkins officiating.
