Ronnie Ray Evans, 71, passed away at his home, Friday, September 8, 2017. He was a loving husband. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Ann Evans, Daughter, Sara Rose Murphy and Son, Ronnie Waylon Evans; two grandchildren, John Kennith Roddenberry and Jaclyn Rose Sweat; two great grandchildren, Zaighlor Kennith Roddenberry and Isebella Rose Sweat; as well as a Son-In-Law, Paul Murphy, Daughter-In-Law, Emily Evans and Granddaughter-In-Law, Abigail Roddenberry and future Grandson-In-Law, Christopher Mansfield and two sisters, Fannie Elshier and Carol Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7-brothers: Albert, Forest, Kurt, Frank, Bill, Ken and Don; and a sister, Dorothy Evans.
Ronnie Ray was born July 24, 1946 in Naugatuck, WV to the late Oscar Evans and Edna Ann Manard Evans. A veteran of the US Army, Artillery Division, he fought in the Vietnam War and was a coal miner in West Virginia upon returning home. Ronnie Ray was a “Jack of all trades”, willing to do anything to help someone out. He was a funny man of few words, and was happiest with a fishing pole in his hands. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 15 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16 at noon in the Chapel of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home.
