Robert Clinton “Bob” Norris, 89, formerly of Folkston, GA, passed away Saturday, February 13 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia. Mr. Norris was born in Lowndes County, Georgia to the late John Eber and Janie Hinson Norris. He attended North Georgia College. He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II as a Staff Sergeant, where he received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, and Bronze Campaign Star. He was a life long member of the Disabled American Veterans. He retired from Exxon Corporation in Houston, TX in 1976 and moved to Folkston, Georgia. He was a member of the Folkston United Methodist Church where he enjoyed attending Sunday School and Church every Sunday. He recently moved to Summers Landing in Douglas, Georgia. He was an avid football fan, loved traveling, and gardening. He was the recipient of the Hole in One Certificate from the Valdosta Country Club in Valdosta, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Ada Tracy Norris; 2-Daughters: Linda Stein and Kathy Sitarsky; a step-daughter: Munda Davis; a brother: Charles J. Norris; 5-Grandchildren; 9-Great Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
The family will receive friends Monday February 15 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia beginning at 10:30 AM. Graveside Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 15 at 12 noon at Trader's Hill Cemetery in Folkston with Rev. Willie Beasley officiating.
