Richard Nelson, Sr.

Richard Arthur Nelson, Sr., 79 of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away October 31, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born February 2, 1934 in Dyal, Florida to Lewis Herman and Minnie Mae Johnson Nelson. He was a lifelong resident of Nassau County and was known for his woodworking. His favorite hobby was making wooden Lighthouses and an arrangement of  wooden keepsakes.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Ruby J. Bryant Nelson of Fernandina Beach, Florida; One son: Richard A.”Randy” Nelson (Julie) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and one grandson: Joshua Randall Nelson, also of Fernandina Beach, Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 4, 2013 from 6 until 8 PM at Shepard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Osborne and Rev. Paul Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Little Phoebe Cemetery, Folkston, Georgia.
