Okey David Armentrout, born April 11, 1945, passed away in his home on Sunday, April 2, 2023. He was born in Persinger, WV, now known as Summersville, WV, to Ralph W. Armentrout and Nora Irene (Hoover) Armentrout.
Okey was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings; Richard Armentrout and Edna Mae Armentrout Savage.
He is survived by his wife; Tina Anderson Armentrout, two sons; David Russell (Jamie) Armentrout aka Aury Sage Armentrout, Montie Eric (Sherry Morrison) Armentrout, step-sons; Shawn Roberts and John Centio, step-daughters; Jessica Richardson, Vicky Dow and Alicia Anderson , grandchildren; Amber (Tony) Sanchez, Brittany Armentrout, Autumn Gray Tyler (Miranda) Armentrout, Kali Byrd and Kayden Anderson two sisters; Ruby Armentrout Sillen and Barbara Armentrout Watson, two brothers; Ralph Woodrow Armentrout, Jr. and Dewey Allen Armentrout.
Okey joined the Navy on March 4, 1964 and was stationed in Brykin, NY on board the USS Bristol DD857. He went to Gunners Mate School, AEC Schools for Guns & Asroc Launching Sys (Anti-Submarine Rocket Sys). From there he went to the USS Charles Ware DD865 / USS Perry 844 to Vietnam, USS Tattnall DDG17 to shore duty Mobile Tech Unit 12 Mayport, FL to USS Berkley DDG15 San Diego, CA. He retired on October 31, 1983 as Chief Gunners Mate Tech. He then worked for Fleet Ord and Hyds and moved to Woodbine, GA where he was a bail bondsmen with AAA Bonding Agency in Camden County GA for the last 33 years.
Memorialization will be by cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 35 Manning Lane, Folkston, GA on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 4:00pm with military honors present.
