Nettie Marvene Batten Crews, 87, of St. George, GA passed away Saturday May 26 at her residence. She was born August 3, 1924 in Charlton County to the late Silas Batten, Sr. and Annie Janie Williams Batten. She was a nurse and homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of St. George. She was preceded in death by her husband: Wesley Dean Crews; a Grandson: Wesley Donald Crews; 2-Great Grandsons: Timothy Luke Burnsed and Hunter Dean Crews, and 3-Brothers: George L. Batten, James O. Batten, and Silas Batten.
She is survived by 3-Daughters: Carol Faye (Charles) Murray, Suzanne (J.W.) Burnsed, and Marsha Kay (Tommy) Roddenberry; 2-Sons: W.D. (Linda) Crews and Wesley Gibson (Callie) Crews; a Brother: John H. Batten; and a Half-Sister: Annie Ereveene (Harvey) Gainey; 14-Grandchildren and 31-Greatgrandchildren and a Great Great Grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 29 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in St. George with Rev. Ray McKendree and Rev. Kenny Marr officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery.
