Mildred Steele

Mildred Grace Nifong Steele, 94 of Folkston, Georgia passed away Monday, July 18, 2011. Mildred was born in Davidson County, North Carolina to Robert Samuel and Ora Ridge Nifong. Following World War II, she married Ivan Tristam (Ike) Steele. The couple was married for 49 years. She dedicated her entire life to serving her family and her church. She was an active member of Homeland United Methodist Church for most of her married life and later an active member of Camp Pinckney Baptist Church following the death of her husband.
She is survived by her daughter: Elizabeth (Theron) Aldridge of Folkston, Georgia; granddaughter: Miriam (Rusty) Windsor of Pooler, Georgia;granddaughter: Vanessa McMillian of Folkston, Georgia; grandson: Tristam (Janelle) Aldridge of Toccoa, Georgia; two sisters: Ruby Nifong and Youthalene Adderholdt of Thomasville, North Carolina; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia. Funeral services will be Friday, July 22 at 10:00 AM at Camp Pinckney Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Camp Pinckney Baptist Church Cemetery.
