Marvin Lloyd

Marvin C. Lloyd passed away peacefully Thursday, January 19, 2023 in Jesup, GA after a lengthy illness.  He was born on May 23, 1940 in Robbinsville, NC.

Marvin had a lengthy career in law enforcement, starting with the City of Folkston Police Department, then Glynn County Police Department before beginning his career with the Georgia State Patrol, retiring after 28 years.  Throughout his career in law enforcement, he earned several service awards, as well as serving on security detail for 7 United States Presidents. He also had a second career in real estate & rental properties. 

Marvin was widely respected by his peers. He and his brothers were very close and traveled together frequently.  He loved his birthplace of Robbinsville, NC and had a 2^nd home there for many years. He loved having family gatherings there on the huge deck overlooking the creek and surrounding mountains.  He loved cracking jokes, flirting, drinking coffee {he called it a cup of mud}, playing poker and going to auctions.  He was constantly helping people in need, whether it was loaning money or financing they’re dreams of becoming home owners, he did everything possible to help them out.

He is survived by his children: Daughter Lorie “Lynn” Lloyd, Daughter Donna Lloyd Dunlap (Ron), Son Michael Lloyd, Step-daughter Karla Rose Manning (Chris).  Grandchildren: Granddaughters Evan Wilkes, Jace Manning, and Kelci Manning Herrin.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 25 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 1-2 PM.  Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 25 at 2:30 PM in Sardis Cemetery with honors rendered by the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard.
