Marion Ruth “Peggy” Schwarting was born January 23, 1936, in Lawrenceburg, TN, to Stanley and Opal Brown. Peggy left this world on December 11th surrounded by her daughters and husband of 69 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kathryn, her son Casimir Jr., her grand-daughter Kendall, and grandson Steven.
She is survived by her husband Casimir “Chuck” Stanely Schwarting Sr, son Christopher (Fran) Schwarting, daughter Jennifer Schwarting, daughter Karolyn Mills, and daughter-in-law Becky Schwarting, 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Peggy moved to Folkston, GA over 20 years ago. Prior to moving to Georgia, Peggy resided in Spring Valley, IL., where they had lived since 1954. During her time in Spring Valley she and Chuck raised five children. She was a wonderful homemaker, seamstress and provided child care for many families. As a seamstress she fashioned many Bridal gowns and formal wear, she loved to design and make Reenactment costumes and made some of the uniforms for the movie “North and South”.
After her youngest daughter joined the Navy, Peggy went to work outside of the home at Ronken Industries, Inc, from there she became an assistant manager at Dollar General, she later transferred to Dollar General in Folkston, retiring from Dollar General about 15 years ago.
Peggy was always active in her communities. She enjoyed years of service on PTA, and more clubs and organizations than can be remembered. Her church families were a big part of her spiritual life. She was on many ministries at St. Peter & Paul in Spring Valley before becoming an active Parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi in Folkston.
She loved to be outside tending her gardens, enjoying flowers and wildlife they attracted.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
