Margaret Lucille Rountree Crawford passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023 at the age of 93.
Margie, as she was called by friends and family, was born on July 5, 1929 to Raymond Rountree Sr. and Marylee Simmons Rountree in Jacksonville, Florida. She was proud to be the eldest sister of 7 siblings whom she loved dearly. Margie and her husband, Robert Crawford, founded Jimmie’s Wrecker service in 1956. After the passing of R.C. 9 years later, she continued to own and operate the business alongside her son, Kenny Crawford. Her family and most of her friends were tied to the business and it was a true joy in her life. Her sharp tongue, loud laugh, and nonstop personality made Jimmie's.
While Margie would watch any sport, she was first an enthusiastic fan of major-league baseball, particularly the Atlanta Braves. She also had a love/hate relationship with the Florida Gators. Over the years Jimmie’s Wrecker Service became home to large gatherings. She enjoyed family vacations to Las Vegas, Nevada and cruises to the Bahamas. Margie was always on the move, either catching the phone at Jimmie's or working outdoors. Her family is convinced her longevity can be attributed her love of sweets and insistence that she could do things on her own, which she proved throughout her life.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband R.C. Crawford, son Baby Boy Crawford, daughter Patricia Thompson, Sister Mary June Wilson, Brothers Charles Roundtree, and Albert Wayne (Baby) Rountree.
Margie is survived by her son Kenny (Jackie) Crawford and daughter Brenda (Buster) Segers, six grandchildren: John Claxton, Travis Claxton, Cale Crawford, Rachel (John) Torell, and Austin (Reagan) Segers, Dylan (Jayde) Crawford; two great-grandchildren: Kynzlee and Rhoden Crawford, and three brothers: Raymond (Connie) Rountree Jr., Joe Elwyn Rountree, and James (Peggy) Rountree along with numerous nieces and nephews.
