Lonnie Nelson

Lonnie “Chuckie” Britton Nelson, 57 of Hilliard passed away July 1, 2009 at Shands Jacksonville.
He was born in Folkston, Georgia on October 15, 1951 to Luchon Britton and Marie Henderson Raulerson Nelson. He served his Country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was site Captain for the St. Marys River Cleanup for 13 years. He was an avid Gator fan, loved the outdoors and was a devoted father and Grandfather. One of his many nicknames was Catfish. Lonnie was a lifelong resident of Hilliard.
He is survived by his son: LB Nelson(Renee) of Hilliard; One daughter: Kimberly Osborne(Eric) of Hilliard; Grandchildren: Jay Lockamy, Dakota Nelson, Brianna Nelson, Evan Osborne, Caleb Osborne and Bethany Osborne; One sister: Regina (Clyde) Sikes of Hilliard; Four Brothers: Donnie Nelson(Connie) of Yulee, Fl., Michael Nelson(Linda) of Folkston; Tony Nelson(Nevy) of Hilliard; Gary Nelson of Hilliard; Several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and many , many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and wife Christine Ann Weichal Nelson.
Pallbearers: Archie Carroll, Chuck Carroll, Robert Horne, Shawn Owens, Jay Lockamy, Richie Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers: Brett Wooten, William Allen and Eric Zander.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6 until 8 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, July 6, 2009 in the funeral home Chapel with Rev. Lincoln Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Pigeon Creek Cemetery.
