Lloyd George Hewitt, 92, of Folkston, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. He was born in Conway, SC on November 2, 1931 to the late Joseph W. Hewitt and Ruth Hardee Hewitt. He was a member of Grace Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son; Gene Hewitt, 3-brothers; Carson Hewitt, T.J. Hewitt, and Clarence Hewitt, a sister; Vernease Hewitt McGill, in-laws; Rev. David and Edna Johns Thrift, and his first wife; Elaine Hewitt.
He is survived by his loving wife; Carolyn Thrift Hewitt, 5-children; Karen Rogers, Paul (Hope) Smith, Renee (John) Hale, Chris (Candace) Smith, and Heidi (Rusty) Hickman, 11-grandchildren; Jordan Smith, Emily Smith, Holly (John) Moore, Hannah Smith, Walt Smith, Ashton Smith, David Hale, Paul Hale, William (Maddie) Hickman, Carson Hickman, and Matthew Hickman, sister-in-law; Loutrelle (Bill) Chesser, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home. A service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Folkston with Rev. John Boatwright and Dr. Randy Jacoby officiating. Burial will follow at Dowling Cemetery in Nahunta, GA. Pallbearers will be Carson Hickman, William Hickman, David Hale, Walt Smith, Robert Phillips and Jordan Smith.
