Linnie Lawrence Smith, 73 of Folkston passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008 at St. Marys Convalescent Center after an extended illness.
A native of McGee, Ak., she had been a resident of Folkston since 1964. She was an Art Teacher at Charlton County High School and later served at High School Secretary. She owned an Arts and Crafts Store, Lynn's Work of Art, which specialized in custom framing and hand made needlework.. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center and the local AARP Chapter. Linnies hobbies includeded Crocheting, Needlepoint and Knitting. She loved Cats, the Atlanta Braves and most of all her family. She was a member of Camp Pinckney Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons: Larry Smith of Gray, Georgia; Bucky Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Two daughters: Phyllis Lloyd of Deltona, Florida; Helene Smith of Folkston, Georgia ; 9 Grandchildren; 6 Great-grandchildren; 1 Aunt: Patsy Treadwell of Hot Springs, Arkansas, 1 Brother-in-law: Richard Ludgwig of Jacksonville, Florida; 3 Step-granddaughters.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Shepard Funeral Home and request those wishing to make memorial contributions to The Charlton County Senior Citizens Center, 100 Third St., Folkston, Georgia 31537.
Pallbearers: Christopher Brannan; Arturo Rosas; Curt Hersey; Steven Turner; Brent Smith; Brad Boyd. Honorary Pallbearer: Ronald Lloyd.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Camp Pinckney Baptist Church at 10:00 AM with Rev. Phillip Cochran and Rev. Alan Brown officiating. Burial will be at 2:00PM in Greenlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida.
