Linda Clark

September 25, 1950 — March 23, 2016

Linda Butler Collins Clark, 65, of Folkston, GA passed away suddenly March 23, 2016. She was born in Greensboro, FL to the late Coleman Butler and Mildred Gertrude Martin Butler. Linda graduated from Greensboro High School where she was a cheerleader, majorette, long distance runner for the track team and on the drama team. She received her degree in psychology and sociology from Tift College at Mercer University. Her teaching certification was completed at the University of Georgia and Emory University and she earned a Master’s in Education from West Georgia College. Linda taught science and Spanish, retiring as an 8th grade science teacher at Bethune Middle School. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of the Folkston United Methodist Church.
Linda was a giving, loving and caring person with a sweet soul. Family was her life and she loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. A recent fb post by Linda expresses her sentiments exactly: My Children are the Rainbow of My Life and Grandchildren are the Pot of Gold. She was always there for them and they will miss her immensely.
Recently, she was thrilled to become part of the Clark clan and was quickly embraced by the family who loved her dearly. Times together will be treasured all the more for their brevity. We will miss the ROFL and all the get-togethers we had planned.
A multi-talented individual, Linda loved reading, sewing, cooking, crafts and gardening, especially flowers. While in high school and at Tift College, she competed in synchronized swimming. She was also a lifeguard and enjoyed all kinds of watersports. Linda was blessed with enduring friendships while teaching and sponsored a multitude of extracurricular activities, including serving as an official scorekeeper for basketball.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Mary Jean McCullough. She is survived by her husband: Wayne Clark; two daughters: Beth (Shane) Norris and Suzie (Holland) Brown; a brother: Jerry (Patricia) Butler; a brother-in-law: Rev. Gene McCullough; five grandchildren: Emma Turner, Sarah Turner, Haley Norris, Evie Brown and Ethan Brown; one stepson, Hank (Abbi) Clark; one stepdaughter: Amanda (Todd) Lassiter; nine step-grandchildren: Gage Clark, Madison Clark, Emma Clark, Davis Clark, Audrey Clark, Isabella Lassiter, Gabriel Lassiter, Cy Lassiter and Lex Lassiter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26, at the Folkston United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jack Varnell and Rev. Gene McCullough officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery.
Condolences may be expressed by signing the guest registry at www.shepardfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia.
