Leon Lloyd

Leon Lloyd, 69, of Homeland, GA, passed away Sunday June 11, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL.  He was born July 1, 1947 in Folkston, GA to the late Chesterfield “Chick” Lloyd and Virginia Hooper Moore.  He was employed with the Glynn County Police Department where he was named Police Officer of the Year and the Jesup Police Department.  He worked as Director of Security Guard Services & Armored Car Division with Watch Security in Brunswick, GA until health complications forced his retirement.  Mr. Lloyd was a life long avid hunter and Georgia Bulldog Fan.  He was loved and adored by all his grandchildren who knew him as “Papa”.  He was also very devoted to his pets and any other stray that happened to come along.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother:   Harold Lloyd.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years:  Diane Lloyd; 5-Children:  David (Amy) Lloyd, Kimberly (Curt) Sowell, Darrell Lloyd, Christina Hall and Teddy Hall; a brother:  Marvin (Hilda) Lloyd; 10-Grandchildren and 9-Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 13 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 14 at 3:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery.
