Larry McMillan, 77, of Folkston, GA passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022. He was born on January 17, 1945 to the late Clarence McMillan and Leona Mock McMillan. Larry served as a deacon at Philadelphia Freewill Baptist Church for 45 years, Boy Scout Troop 360 scout volunteer for numerous years and a men’s softball league coach. He worked at Humphrey’s Mining Company in Folkston, Allied in Jacksonville and retired from GE in Folkston. He was an avid fisherman that also enjoyed farming, yearly syrup making, fast cars and spending time with family and friends. He was a true handyman and mentor.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years that he loved dearly; Faye McMillan, 3 sons; Ray (Cheryl) McMillan, Lamar McMillan, and Jonathan (Dustie) McMillan, grandchildren; Emma Kate McMillan, Ada and Ava McMillan, Ryan Dowling, and Hunter Dowling, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 brother; Amos McMillan, 3 sisters; Eloise (Gene) Chesser, Linda Roddenberry and Penny (Ronnie) Manning, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Philadelphia Freewill Baptist Church. A service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Philadelphia Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Ray McMillan, Bro. Parnell Aldridge and Bro. Billy Champion officiating. Burial will follow at Traders Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Justice, Richie McMillan, Steven Lloyd, Corey Norton, Nicholas McDowell, Zary Manning, Tim Birchall and Brent Wildes. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Philadelphia Freewill Baptist Church, Loren Lane and Jim Burkhart.
