Kile Jack McDowell, 73, of Folkston, GA passed away Monday, December 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 17, 1948 in Galesburg, IL to the late Kile Leroy McDowell and Janine Ribotet McDowell. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was an Air Traffic Controller and served as a City Police Officer for the cities of Hilliard, FL and Lynnhaven, FL. He served as Magistrate Judge of Charlton County from 1989-1992. He was a member of Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Marie France Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Latrelle Roddenberry McDowell; 4-children: Nicole Coltrane and her husband, Wayne, Nicholas McDowell, Noelle Kahlenbeck and her husband, Todd, and Nydia Ganas and her husband, Garrett; grandchildren: Meagan (Tucker) Coltrane, Corey (Kaylee) Coltrane, Kinsley McDowell, Adaline Grace Kahlenbeck, Rett Ganas, Sawyer Ganas, and Eli Ganas; great granddaughter: Tatum Hazel Coltrane and an approaching great granddaughter due in February and a sister: Patricia Desmaris and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 22 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23 at 11:00 AM at Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Champion and Rev. Keith Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery with military honors.
