Katie Nelson

Katie Roddenberry Nelson, 88, of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away Thursday, January 8, 2010. She was born in Charlton County to the late G.S. And Susan Colson Roddenberry. She was a member of Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church and regularly attended Blackrock Baptist Church. She was preceded in Death by her husband: Barney L. Nelson; 3-Sisters: Mary Sue Nelson, Nellie Murray, and Ethel Chesser; 5-Brothers: Jesse Roddenberry, Tommy Roddenberry, Malcolm Roddenberry, Dan Roddenberry and James Roddenberry.

She is survived by her 2-Children: Douglas B. Nelson and Glenda Williams; a Sister: Irene Brock; a Brother: N.W. “Boy” Roddenberry; 2-Grandchildren: Elizabeth Belcher and Walter Williams and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 11 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 12 at 1:00 Pm at Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Parnell Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Trader's Hill Cemetery.
