Kathleen Lynette McQueen, 78 passed away May 17, 2012 in Waycross, Georgia. She was born April 27, 1934 in Charlton County, Georgia and had been a lifelong resident, until the last several years, due to failing health.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Eva Lynette Rodgers McQueen; father: Col. Alexander S. McQueen; a brother: William A. McQueen and two other siblings: Imogene McLeod McQueen and Robert McIntosh McQueen, who died as children.
Ms. McQueen attended Charlton County Schools, graduating as Valedictorian. She received a degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Among her honors are Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Psi Chi. Her social sorority was Kappa Delta. She married Lewis Marion Davis in 1957 and bore a child: Dr. William Gordon Davis, in 1959. She taught in the Charlton County School System for six years. She worked as a senior case worker with DFCS. She was a member of the Okefenokee Bird Club and was of the Methodist Faith.
A graveside service will be Monday, May 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Pine View Cemetery, Folkston, Georgia with Rev. David Willett officiating.
