Juanita Stokes Stroup, 93, of Folkston, passed away January 21 in Brunswick. She is a native and life long resident of Charlton County. Her parents were the late L.E. And Molly Braddock Stokes. She owned and operated the Richcliff Restaurant in Folkston until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Folkston. Her life was centered around God, family and Friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard Bernard “Dick” Stroup; son: Robert Bernard Stroup; and a grandson: Joseph Keith Jones.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Peggy S. and Joseph A. Jones, Jr., of Folkston, 3-grandchildren: Steve (Wendy) Jones of Kingsland, GA, Sherri (Stan) Jones Hawthorne of Orlando, FL, and Madrina (Dane) Bokenkamp of Katy, TX; and a granddaughter-in-law: Kim Bragg Jones; 11-Grandchildren: Stacey Jones, Caroline Jones, Marisa Jones, Laura Jones, Drew Jones, Blake Jones, Stu Hawthorne, Julie Hawthorne, Chip Hawthorne, and Nina Bokencamp, and a sister: Carlie (Glenn) Trout and a brother: Wilton (Rilla) Stokes.
The family will receive friends Wednesday January 23 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 24 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Folkston with Rev. Randy Jacoby and Rev. Gene McCullough officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Jones, Drew Jones, Blake Jones, Stan Hawthorne, Stu Hawthorne, and Chip Hawthorne.
