John Buie Southwell, Jr., 77, passed away on November 17, 2007, following a sudden illness.
Born May 4, 1930, he was a life-long resident of Folkston, Georgia. He was predeceased by his parents, John Buie,Sr., and Marie Southwell of Folkston and sister Betty Southwell Wainwright of Macon, Georgia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Folkston.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Inez Winn Barefoot Southwell, sister Rosalie O'Neill of Lyons, Georgia, and four children: Vivian Southwell (Danny Gurr) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; Rebecca Hahn (Eric) of Valdosta, Georgia; William Kinson Southwell of San Francisco; and Sidney Eric (Lynda) Southwell of Folkston, Georgia; four grandchildren: Thor Hahn, Beau Southwell, Christie Southwell, and Morgan Southwell Gurr, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is at Shepard Funeral Home, 600 Oak Street, Folkston, Georgia, on Monday, November 19th, from 6:00-8:00 PM, and services will be held at First Baptist Church, 401 South Third Street, Folkston, Georgia on Tuesday, November 20th, at 11:00 AM with Rev. S.L. Pickren, Jr. and Rev. Gene McCullough officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery in Folkston, GA.
In lieu of flowers, gifts to the First Baptist Church Building Fund will be appreciated.
