JOHN PRESCOTT

October 4, 1931 — November 16, 2011

John Elvie Prescott, 80, of Folkston, Georgia passed away November 16 at his residence. He was born in Winokur, Georgia to the late John Ellis Prescott and Jane Marie Herrin Nazworth. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor for the Air Force at Patrick Air Force Base and then at Wright-Patterson AFB until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Melbourne, Florida #143 F&AM where he was a 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master in 1963. He was a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Prescott loved to fish, ride 4-wheelers, and horses and spending time mentoring the younger generation of the neighborhood.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Sharon Prescott; 4-Children: Ralph Prescott, Laureen Prescott, Russell Prescott (Jane), and LeAnne Oliveira (Matt); Brother: J.S. Prescott (Joni); 7-Grandchildren: John Hall, Bethany More, Drew Hall, Taylor Prescott, Ben Prescott, Bailey Oliveira and Luke Oliveira; and 2-Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 18 at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church beginning at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19 at the church at 10:30 AM with Rev Randy Wainright officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Ralph Prescott, Russell Prescott, Ben Prescott, John Hall, Drew Hall, and Matt Oliveira.
Contributions may be made to the Corinth Primitive Baptist Church Maintenance Fund, c/o Shirley Wainright, Southeastern Bank, Hoboken, Georgia.
