John Ottis Lakey, Jr.

John Ottis Lakey, Jr., 78, of Folkston, Georgia passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on January 20, 1945 to the late John Ottis Lakey, Sr. and Doris Agnes Gaston Lakey. Before moving to Folkston in 2018, John and his wife, Peggy, were residents of Vidor, Texas. John retired from Ohmstede Machine Works in Beaumont, Texas. His hobbies included fishing, archery, working on autos, hunting and working on guns. He loved spending time with family at get togethers and playing the guitar.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son; Robert Earl Lakey and a brother; Timothy Lakey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years; Peggy A. Lakey of Folkston, Georgia, daughter; Kim (David) Cole of Callahan, Florida, and son; Jeffrey Randall Lakey of Vidor, Texas, brother; Mark Lakey of Lumberton, Texas, sister; Peggy Doris Gilley of Lumberton, Texas, 3-granddaughters; Ryleigh Cole, Elizabeth Lakey and Jessie Lakey, 4-great-grandchildren, 12-nieces, and 11-nephews.

Memorialization will be by cremation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Lufkin, Texas.
