John Dowling

John Franklin Dowling, 66, of Callahan, passed away Sunday December 16 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Hoboken, Georgia to the late Lonnie Dowling and the late Jessie Hickox Dowling Sikes. He retired from the United States Air Force after more than 21 years of faithful service. He also retired as an Inspector for the Florida Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Patricia Dowling; 2-Daughters: Peggy Wilson and Brenda Hart; a grandson: Phillip Wilson; 3-Granddaughters: Tiffany Wilson, Brandi (Justin) Werts, and Jessica Hart; 5-Great Grandchildren: Mercedes Ardolino, Austin Ardolino, Dylan Ardolino, Ethan Capps, and Blake Werts; Sister: Jennette Bell; Brother: Tommy Dowling, Half-Sister: Shelia Crites; 3-Half-Brothers: Earl Dowling, Donnie Dowling, and Dean Dowling.

The family will receive friends Tuesday December 18 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 6-8 PM. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday December 19 at 1:00 PM at Corinth Cemetery with full military honors.
