Joe Edward Welch

Joe Edward Welch, 87, of St. George, GA, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was born in Louisville, KY on April 29, 1937, to the late Eddie Welch and Betty Eisenback Welch. Joe was a member of Grace Baptist Fellowship. He was a Christian mentor to many.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children: Betty Atwood Welch and his second wife: Joyce Driggers Welch; 2-sons: Billy Atwood and David Davis; and a grandson: Duane McCoy.

He is survived by his children: Lisa J. Powell (Larry), Joel Welch, Patty McCoy (Buddy), and Ruth Lee (Mikie); bonus daughters: Charlotte Jay (David), Anna Mosley (Tommy); daughters-in-law: Janet Davis and Kim Atwood; sister: Patricia Sessoms (Russell); multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, August 26, 2024, at First Baptist Church of St. George with Bro. Gene Burnsed and Bro. Bob Hines officiating. Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Powell, Joseph Doyle, Jacob Doyle, Jason Combs, Chris Burnsed, and Floyd Ware. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
