Joe Harlen Sikes, 75 of Hilliard, Florida passed away November 1, 2016 at his residence surrounded by
his loving family. He was born January 13, 1941 in Crossville, Alabama to Melrose Thompson and John R. Sikes. Joe was a graduate of Callahan High School, Class of 1959. He retired after 11 years of service from the United States Navy. Joe also retired as a painter and a member of the Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators & Paperhangers of America, Local Union No. 88, Tampa, Florida. He was a member of Milligan First Baptist Church in Baker, Florida and also a charter member of River Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons: John Colson Sikes (April); Chip Jones; Three daughters: Sherri Harris (Clay); Christina Ball (Jeff); Sissy Jones-Thames; Thirteen Grandchildren and Four Great-grandchildren; One aunt: Clara Kilgore several cousins and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his Wife: Joyce Ann, his mother, father, brother, George and sister, Rosemary.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 5, 2016 at River Road Baptist Church from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 2:00, with Rev. Benjie Loyd and Rev. Hal McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
