Jimmy Johns, 85, of the Winokur Community of Charlton County, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on April 20, 2021. He was born March 19, 1936 in Callahan, Florida to the late Robert Preston Johns and Pearlie Mixon Johns. He retired from the Nassau County Road and Bridge Department. Mr. Johns was a faithful member of the Hilliard Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Wendell Johns; 2-grandchildren: Chris Johns and Lori Sands; 3-sisters: Elvira Barbara, Jeannette Johns and Inez Johnson; 2-brothers: Robert Johns and Ivey Johns; a daughter-in-law: Kathy Johns and a son-in-law: Craig Cloud.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Helen Hendrix Johns; 3-children: Marsha (Tony) Roberts, Susan Cloud and David (Sheryl) Johns; 7-grandchildren; 12-great grandchildren and 2-great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 23 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Powell and Rev. Wayne Spratlin officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Craig Cloud, James Hogan, Dewayne Everett, Tony Roberts, Andrew Roberts and Steven Turner
Due to Covid-19, the family would like to ask all attendees to please follow the rules of social distancing and face masks are recommended at the service. Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
