Jeanette "Hampie" Hagan, 88, of Summerville, SC, beloved sister and aunt departed this life on Wednesday, May 3, 2012 at her residence in Summerville. A memorial service was held Saturday, May 5 in Summerville. A local memorial service will be held Saturday, May 19 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia. A committal service will follow in Pigeon Creek Cemetery.
She was born November 7, 1923 in Kingsland, Georgia to the late Joseph Oliver Hagan and Dora Dean Haddock Hagan. Jeanette grew up in Hilliard, Florida graduating from Hilliard High School in 1941. She graduated from Jacksonville Jr. College prior to a long career with the US Government working overseas on assignments in Africa, Okinawa, Spain and Moracco and the Pentagon as a Congressional Liason. She retired and moved to Summerville, SC where she had resided since. Jeanette had also been a member of Old Fort Baptist Church, the Summerville Republican Women's Club and the Moroccan Reunion Association.
She is survived by her sisters: Joyce H. Owens of Summerville, SC, Norma (Bill) Gerham of Spring Hill, FL, and Mary Wood of Jacksonville, FL; 6-Nieces and 7-Nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister: Lillie Mae Yeager and a Brother: Warren G. "Bat" Hagan.
