James Thomas “Jim” Cox, 60 of Blackshear, Georgia passed away at his home Sunday, March 14 following a long battle with Alzheimer ’s disease. He was born June 17, 1960 in Colville, WA. He was a maintenance supervisor with Satilla Regional Medical Center for many years before his health forced his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father: Jasper Rowan “June” Cox and a sister: Colleen June James.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Sherri Turner Cox; a daughter: Galen McKenzie Cox; a granddaughter: Abigail June Cox; his mother: Beverly “Bev” Ruth Lotz Cox; a sister: Cynthia Jean (Dan) Haslam; 3-brothers: Robert Allen Cox, Randall Lee (Shelly) Cox and David Rowan (Jennifer) Cox and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 17 at Shepard Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 6-8 PM. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18 at 4:00 PM in Homeland Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Brown officiating.
Due to Covid-19, the family would like to ask all attendees to please follow the rules of social distancing and face masks are recommended at the service. Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
