James Robert Wilson, Sr., 71, of Folkston, passed away Thursday April 9 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Wayne County, Georgia. His parents were the late James Randall and Sarah Westberry Wilson. He retired from the Charlton County Road Department. He was the former pastor of Sand Hill Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Pearl Wilson, of Folkston, GA; 6-Children: Robert (Melissa) Wilson, Jr., Lynnett (Nathan) McMillan, Lisa (Donald) Nettles, Lori Hickox, Chris (Shane) Wilson, and Elizabeth (Hamp) Gowen; 4-Sisters: Hazel Lee, Mae Starling, Mildred Young, and Linda Dixon; and a Brother: Roy Wilson; 15-Grandchildren: James Todd, Jennifer Dasher, Joshua Todd, Allison Dial, Mikel Todd, Alan Hickox, Clint Wilson, Maria Hickox, David Nettles, Blake Gowen, Brittany Crews, Katie Wilson, Hanna Wilson, Hardy Jo Crews, Caleb Wilson and 4-Great Grandchildren: Brandon Todd, Sara Dasher, Tessa Dial, and A.J. Hickox.
The family will receive friends Friday April 10 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 11 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wainright and Rev. E.C. Crews officiating. Burial will be in Lake Chapel Cemetery in Patterson, Georgia.
