James Anthony Morris, Sr., 58, of St. Mary’s, GA passed away August 19, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born October 1, 1956 in Miami, FL. Mr. Morris retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO3) following 23 years of dedicated and faithful service in the United States Navy serving on submarines, surface ships and land facilities. Following retirement, he worked at White Oak Plantation as head of security. He attended South Decatur Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Deborah Foster Morris; 3-Children: Sami (Mark) Luffman, Brandy (Kenny) Cox and TSGT James (Helen) Morris, Jr.; 4-Grandchildren: Kevin & Mikayla Cox and Tyler & Helayna Morris; his mother: Geneva Tomberlin Morris; his father: Harvey Lee Morris; a sister: Jerris (Max) Bassett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a sister: Margret (surviving spouse Lewis) Adkison.
The family will receive friends Monday August 24 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 25 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Shepard Funeral Home with Bishop Jay Rhodes officiating. The committal service will be held Wednesday, August 26 at 11:45 AM in Barrancas National Cemetery Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL.
