James Harris

Mr. James Richard “Peanut Man” Harris, 58, of Hilliard, passed away Saturday, May 22 in Jacksonville following an extended illness. He was born in Battle Creek Michigan to the late Robert and Shirley Harris. He was a proud veteran of the US Air National Guard. He was preceded in death by his brother: Tim Harris. He proudly served with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for 10 years and was employed as a Regional Loss Control Manager with FCCI Insurance Group. He was also a friend of Bill W.

He is survived by his wife: Debra Jean Harris of Hilliard, FL; 2-Children: James Harris and Matthew Harris of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 2-Step-Children: Mark Wade, Jr. and Brittany Miller of Hilliard, FL; 6-Grandchildren: Halie, Kingston, and Marley Harris of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Breanna Wade of Wilmington, NC, and Ryan and Waylon Miller of Hilliard, Florida; a Sister: Cathy Harris of Jacksonville, Florida; 4-Brothers: Bob (Kathy) Harris of Sumter, SC, John (Dow) Harris of Newport News, Virginia, Tom Harris of Jacksonville, FL, and Jerry Harris of Queens, New York; and a number of nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 25 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia from 6:30-8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26 at 11:00 AM at the Shepard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Buford Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
