James Hilton Giddens, Sr.

James Hilton “Bill” Giddens, Sr., 85, of Folkston, Georgia, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Nashville, Georgia, on March 19, 1939, to the late Dewey William Giddens and Wilma Gladys Courson Giddens. Bill received a 4-year degree from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree from Valdosta. He was a member of Winokur Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother: J.A. Giddens; and a sister: Betty Fay Adams.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years: Patricia Goff Giddens; 4-children: Cyndee (Jesse) Nettles, Jamie (Jana) Giddens, Amanda Melvin, and Josh (Becky) Giddens; 8-grandchildren; 15- great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members that loved and adored him.

A service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Winokur Baptist Church with Bro. Monroe Gill and Bro. Ronnie Pollock officiating. Burial will follow at Winokur Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jess Nettles, Caleb Giddens, Kyle Giddens, Cole Giddens, Daniel “Red” Batten, and Randy Morrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Morrison and Mark Thrift. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
