James Carter, Sr

James Oscar Carter, Sr., 65, of Folkston, passed away Monday January 26 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Charlton County to the late Allen Eugene and Janie Crews Carter. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam.

He is survived by 9-Children: Dawn Winn, Shirley Ann Carter, and James O. Carter, Jr. all of Nahunta, GA, Evelyn Carter of Jesup, GA, Terry Carter of Brunswick, GA, Carmen Carter of Oregon, Dana Carter of St. Mary's, GA, Amanda Mercer of Kingsland, GA, and Krystal Carter of St. Mary's, GA; 3-Sisters: Carolyn Drury of Folkston, GA, Vivian Crews of Nahunta, GA, and Betty Kay Johnson, of Folkston, GA; 2-Brothers: Robert Carter of Hilliard, FL and Herman Carter of Nahunta, GA; 17-Grandchildren and 5-Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday January 29 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday January 30 at Sand Hill Baptist Church at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jody Griffin and Rev. Ion Johns officiating. Burial will follow at Racepond Cemetery behind the church.
