James Vernon Aldridge, 74, of Folkston, GA passed away at his residence June 14, 2013. He was a native lifelong resident of Charlton County. He was born September 23, 1938 to the late Owen Samuel Aldridge and Cora Allene Lee. He was a retired Heavy Equipment operator with CSX Transportation Railroad.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister: Zoie Gooding.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Barbara Lambert Aldridge; 8-Children and their spouses: Felecia & David Stokes of Lexington, KY, James & Alicia Aldridge of Fernandina Beach, FL, Valerie & Doug Gowen of Folkston, GA, Mark & Jackie Aldridge of Folkston, GA, Angela & Troy Lantz of Folkston, GA, Brian & Nancy Aldridge of Folkston, GA, Aric & April Aldridge of Bainbridge, GA, and Amy & Donovan Johns of Nahunta, GA; 4-Sisters: Hazel (Gadson) Roddenberry, Doris (William) Harden, Linda (Marvin) Chancey, and Edith (George) Wester; 5-Brothers: Herman (Lavada) Aldridge, Lester (Joan) Aldridge, Felton Aldridge, Harold Aldridge, and Theron (Elizabeth) Aldridge; 18-Grandchildren: Joshua (Pearl) Stokes, Zac (Alaina) Stokes, Brittney Stokes, Travis (Tamesha) Aldridge, Candace Aldridge, Abby (Tyler) Fleming, Ridge Gowen, Marissa Gowen, Stetson Aldridge, Shane Aldridge, Cassidy Aldridge, Tyler Bell, Jennifer Bell, Hunter Bell, Kayla Aldridge, Austin Aldridge, Ashton Aldridge and Colton Johns; 6-Great Grandchildren: James Stokes, Kyler Stokes, Taylor Aldridge, Tredon Aldridge, Tiana Aldridge and Anna Bell; a number of Nieces, Nephews, and other Relatives.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 17 at 10:00 AM at Sardis Cemetery with his Son-In-Law Rev. David Stokes officiating. Pallbearers will be his sons: James, Mark, Brian and Aric Aldridge. Honorary Pallbearers wil be his 11-Grandsons: Joshua Stokes, Zac Stokes, Travis Aldridge, Ridge Gowen, Stetson Aldridge, Shane Aldridge, Tyler Bell, Hunter Bell, Austin Aldridge, Ashton Aldridge and Colton Johns
